The last date for the scholarship application for the Single Girl Scholarship Scheme in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been extended for the academic year 2025-2026. If students have missed the original deadline, they can now apply online at the official CBSE website till November 20, 2025. Many eligible students who were unable to complete the process due to technical or documentation issues are relieved by this extension.
Single Girl Child Scholarship is a scholarship operated by the CBSE to provide a merit-based scholarship to help and motivate the only girl children of their parents to pursue education. It provides scholarships to deserving students so that they can continue their studies after class 10. Under this scheme, all the beneficiary students are given INR 500 as a monthly stipend for 2 years who are in the classes 11 and 12.
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must be currently studying in a CBSE-affiliated school and must have passed the CBSE Class 10 examination with satisfactory academic performance. As per the eligibility standards set by CBSE, the school fees at the time of application should not exceed INR 1500 per month. Only Indian natives are eligible for the award, and as per the program requirements, the candidate must be the only child of his/her parents.
Scholarship applications must be made online through the CBSE website. For the application process, students need to follow some steps, such as:
- Fill out the application form,
- Upload the required documents like the class 10 mark sheet, Single Girl Child Certificate, and details of the school you are currently studying in.
- Log in with their class 10 roll number and date of birth.
Once submitted, the applications will be cross-checked online by the respective schools and then forwarded to CBSE for processing.
Furthermore, the board has warned students against applying at the last minute, as opportunities may be lost due to server load or delays in school verification. If selected, the scholarship amount is paid directly into the recipient's bank account through an electronic payment system.
This CBSE project aims to promote girls' education and reduce school dropouts after class 10, especially among unmarried girls. CBSE launched this scholarship to make education more affordable and within the reach of every single girl child, to inspire the young girls towards education, and to show them the importance of education.
For detailed guidance and to ensure prompt submission before the November 20 deadline, students and parents are requested to access the official website of CBSE.
