This year NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) will increase the publication of textbooks by three times and will print 15 crore books. This announcement is made by the Union Education Minister “Dharmendra Pradhan”, Who is himself the third time the education minister has followed the previous three years?
After signing the contract of 15 crore textbook publishing with the NCERT Dharmendra Pradhan said “The textbooks were published for the first time by NCERT in 1963. Altogether, the number of books and magazines printed runs to about 220 crore. NCERT is India's premier think tank. The books would be available across about 20,000 pin codes across the country. Books must be available at MRP.”
As Dharmendra Pradhan urged to develop e-books, he said that with some interactive & AI-Powered including such innovative talking books. For availability to all students easily, NCERT textbooks of all grades will be available on the online platform Amazon. A senior official of the Ministry of Education stated "This will address challenges such as supply shortages, delayed availability, and regional shortages of textbooks, ensuring equitable access to education."
All the textbooks will be only sold at the original price printed on the textbooks, not at a higher price than this. NCERT Textbooks will be retailed on the original price only which will lead to curb the sale of pirated textbooks of NCERT. This online platform will allow NCERT to monitor unauthorized sellers to stop the distribution of fake or overpriced textbooks. With the help of this distribution system at the online platform, students & schools even in most of the remote areas will be able to buy the textbooks at the printed or legal prices.
While serving the individual students, the online platform will also collaborate with the NCERT to sell the textbooks in bulk order to government agencies and schools which make it easier for agencies or schools to buy the textbooks in large quantities. Including all the benefits this effort will make it easier for students, parents, and teachers to access the essential resources.
