NCTE urges colleges to implement ITEP

In recent years, the panorama of education has gone through vast transformations. As society grows, so should our tactics to prepare for future educators. One such initiative gaining momentum is the Implementation of the International Teacher Education Program (ITEP). What is ITEP?

ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Programme) represents a pattern shift in Teacher training, emphasizing global perspectives, cultural competence, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The four-year integrated B.Ed. Can be a dual major encompassing a bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed) as well as a specialized issue including language, history, song, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, economics, artwork, physical education, and many others. The program objectives are to put together teachers for the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels as per the new college structure of NEP2020. The program will ensure that extremely good college students input into the teaching profession. Students undergoing this program may be grounded in Indian values, languages, know-how, spirit, and ethnic culture, and also trendy advances in training and education. This course caters to the need for 21st-century abilities.

ITEP Program Course Details

As per the notification of 26 October 2021, ITEP is a 4-year dual bachelor degree program offering different specializations BA BEd/ BSc B Ed, and BCom BEd. This integrated program will prepare candidates into teachers for tomorrow throughout the program duration of the new school structure which is Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary (5+3+3+4).

Eligibility for the ITEP Program

The four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) can be pursued to make teaching a career option for students after completing their secondary. ITEP could be an included career program that will lend giant opportunities to complete the program in 4 years and save 1 year. The duration of the regular program is 5 years, in keeping with the present BEd plan.

ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Programme) is touted to be a foundation and an important step in the direction of reaching the primary mandates and goals of the Advanced National Education Policy of 2020. It is expected to cover the loopholes left in the earlier policies and practices and is completely final results-oriented, where entire training for teachers should have an immediate and nice bearing on how they convey schooling to college students.
